Wow. A year! Honestly when I started the site I wasn’t sure where it was going to take me. Coming from a non-blogger background, being slightly older and having a family, not knowing all the hot spots or the who’s-who in Denver and Boulder totally gave me imposter syndrome at times. However, I had a passion and a vision for what I was creating and I knew that I just had to do it before someone else did. This past year has pushed me in ways that I wasn’t expecting at all. Oddly, I am pretty open on social media, but in person I clam up and and can be intimidated by meeting people in real life (not a great trait for what I’m trying to do with the site). While I’ve struggled along the way, what I’ve learned is that our community here is welcoming and open. If you are authentic and honest about who you are, you’ll find that everyone is looking to connect. One of the reasons I started the site was that I craved meeting like minded, curious people who wanted to share experiences in real life, off of our devices. I figured that if I felt the same, other must as well. Time and time I’ve been shown that this is definitely the case and that the community here in the Denver and Boulder area is excited about the attention and growth we are experiencing. I hope that I can bring you more connection and help you seek out new experiences in this New Year.
I wanted to extend a special thanks to you, reader, who have buoyed me through self-doubt, and encouraged me by forwarding on the site and the newsletter to friends and colleagues. Knowing that someone out there in the ether was interested and excited about what I have been working on has been incredible.
Finally, I also wanted to give a big thanks to those who have supported me, pushed me and have been along for the ride (you know who you are, there are too many to mention here). I also want to send a major THANK YOU to my husband, Stuart, for being my CTO, my sounding board and for taking this whole thing as seriously as I do. I know that he LOVES the perks of my job but is also not crazy about me taking pictures of everything all the time! Also, to my kids….. thanks for being quiet during conference calls, being curious about what I’m doing in the office and celebrating my small victories with Mary Poppins dance parties in the kitchen.
Cheers to an exciting 2019!
